Mandy J. Benson has dedicated her professional career to helping employers meet and surpass goals while prioritizing and empowering the people that make it all possible. She believes that when people feel safe and respected at work, there is no telling what can be accomplished.
With a diverse background, ranging from managing human resource departments in high-performing companies to leading organizations and campaigns committed to ending sexual harassment and violence, Mandy is an expert in addressing harassment issues head-on and creating safe spaces for people to work and learn.
Mandy has a master’s degree in Women, Gender and Social Justice. Before founding MJ Benson Consulting, she led the statewide campaign efforts for Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California and spent over ten years in human resources, specializing in employee relations. She is a an accomplished trainer, speaker, and advocate.
Mandy’s passion lies in social justice. She spent over six years leading statewide campaigns as the Field Director and then President of the California Chapter of the National Organization for Women (CA NOW). She served a term as the President of the US National Committee for UN Women, San Francisco Bay Area. More locally, she directed programs at Stanford University’s Women’s Community Center and at Mills College educating students on issues related to gender, harassment, and assault.
Most recently, she co-founded Work Equity, a national network designed to support survivors — connecting them with invaluable resources and with a community that understands, believes, and empowers others to tell their stories, report their harassers, and heal.
Mandy has a unique ability to build authentic relationships, to listen to people’s needs and address them with compassion and respect. She understands that when people feel safe, heard, and respected then dialogue is open, people are empowered, and teams thrive.
